Zonta Club of Hobart

Young women and Club members at awards night

The Zonta Club of Hobart Inc was chartered in 1971 and is the oldest club in Area 5 (Tasmania).  The Club holds an in-person meeting of every month, currently the fourth Monday of the month, except for January, at the Woolstore Hotel in Macquarie Street, Hobart from 6pm.  Members are able to purchase a meal during the course of the meeting.

WHAT DO WE DO?

Zonta Hobart supports several activities that fall within the objectives of Zonta International’s commitment to make it a better world for women and girls.  Locally these activities include providing educational support for girls, supporting migrant women through the Migrant Resource Centre, advocating for the prevention of violence against women, supporting local health and sexual support centres, providing funding and goods to women and children who are fleeing domestic violence. The club advocates on issues that have a detrimental impact or disadvantage women and their families.  New members are crucial to the viability of the club.  They bring along new ideas and energy which translates into improved service to women and girls in our community.

Zonta Hobart works within our community towards achieving the following objects of Zonta International:

group of happy, young, multicultural women

Advocating for gender equality

Ending gender-based violence

Ending child marriage

Expanding access to education

Be an informed advocate

Zonta says NO to violence against women

Zonta says NOW to gender-equal climate action

WHO CAN BE A MEMBER?

Join the Zonta Club Hobart – contributing for over 50 years as part of a wide and diverse international network of people working together to enhance human rights for women and girls locally and internationally. Members advocate on key issues impacting women’s empowerment at a local and national level.  Zonta Hobart also works closely with organisations that address the needs of women and girls in our local community.
